  • What is the price of data?

A trio of academics recently surveyed the dataset catalogues of nearly 40 commercial data marketplaces to empirically answer the question: what is the price of data? We summarise key findings from this study, such as median price of a dataset, as well as compare the literature’s conclusions with Neudata’s own metadata.

  • Alternative data in wartime: from cyber to shipping

Two European Nation-States are at war for the first time since 1945. Few commentators have chosen to underplay its significance. At the very least, it is likely to extend supply chain disruptions in the wake of covid. Over the longer term, it could also constitute a paradigm shift for the outlook of countries, companies, and the general population. We highlight five key data types that could help readers to navigate the immediate and extended impacts of the conflict. (NB: this is not intended as an exhaustive list of the war’s impacts or data types that could provide insights.)

  • SEC mock audit – reading the room

At Neudata’s recent live mock audit with Adam Storch of the SEC, Adam suggested that while he could not provide conclusive answers to many of the compliance concerns that buyers share, his body language, tone, and other physical signals would provide insight into his views. So, we’ve listened to Adam and studied the footage of the event to come up with the following analysis of those signals. This analysis is highly speculative and reflects our impressions rather than any advice with respect to particular facts or circumstances. References to Adam (or “the examiner”) in this report are made with respect to his character during the mock audit – not the views of the SEC.
