Corporate disclosures serve as an important source for both alternative and traditional data. For global investors, China’s A-share market presents an unusual problem: disclosures are abundant, but there is a learning curve for accessing and digesting the information. Listed companies in the Chinese A-share market fall into a regime with features that differ from its Western analogue, such as exchange-run investor interaction platforms where managers interact with investors on a daily basis, the mandatory disclosure of records of institutional site visits, and a filing calendar and taxonomy for filings, set by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the Chinese exchanges, rather than by IFRS convention.
