Do firms choose the metrics by which they are measured? Investors can scrutinise whether targets are met, but can things slip through the net if the target itself quietly changes? With this in mind, this literature review asks whether the choice of metric carries investment value. We highlight a paper that asks exactly this and discuss the earnings call transcript data landscape.
