President-elect Trump's incoming administration is expected to increase deregulation activity around mergers and acquisitions (M&A), setting up the M&A landscape up for significant growth. Here, we review a paper that explores how M&A activity affects financial performance at an industry level, instead of – more commonly – from a company perspective. Investors could use findings from the paper to identify high-growth industries on the brink of transformation.
