Japanese consumer transaction data has become more attractive to investors since mid-2025, driven by a confluence of market reforms, capital flows into stock selection, macro data volatility and a spike in cashless payments. In this intelligence report, we map and compare the supply relationships among major providers before focusing specifically on POS data, which occupies a uniquely central position in Japan’s consumer data ecosystem.

In this piece, we introduce the main transactional data players and their supply relationships, provide recommendations for POS data and other dataset types (e.g. card and receipt data), and discuss the latest vendor developments.
