When considering real-time events, we tend to focus on data sources that transcribe and report on breaking news. However, a wide array of sources exist that offer alternative ways of obtaining information beyond an RSS feed. This report summarises methodologies and vendors that can provide insights (and therefore alpha) into events as they happen. We also explore how real-time data can lead to incorrect conclusions, and how to mitigate against this possibility.
