China’s consensus estimates data: Mapping the market
Lucy Gao, Research Analyst (Shanghai)

Consensus estimates are a cornerstone of equity research and portfolio construction. In China, local analysts dedicate more resources to company-level research and provide sharper insights into policy shifts than offshore peers. As a result, datasets from domestic vendors often deliver broader coverage and closer alignment with corporate performance. This report compares eight Chinese consensus providers to help asset managers identify the best fit for their strategies.
COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE
Consensus estimates aggregate analyst forecasts on public companies and their financial metrics such as earnings per share (EPS), revenues and margins. They provide a collective view of analyst expectations, forming the ‘market baseline’ against which reported earnings are judged. These datasets are critical for benchmarking internal forecasts, anticipating surprises, and detecting sentiment shifts.
