NielsenIQ has announced that it will acquire e-receipt data provider Rakuten Intelligence for an undisclosed sum.

The two firms have had worked together for several years — since October 2018, NielsenIQ has leveraged Rakuten’s Slice e-receipt data as part of its Omnisales product. The acquisition solidifies that partnership and will help NielsenIQ deliver “an integrated online and offline read, aligned to customer client hierarchies.”

NielsenIQ plans to invest heavily in the Slice panel and prioritise financial services clients within its growth strategy.

As part of the announcement, the firm also said it would acquire Data Impact, an e-commerce data analytics platform.

In other e-receipt data acquisition news, YipitData announced last week that it had bought Edison Software. Yipit combines web-scraped public data with third-party datasets, including clickstream, e-receipt and app usage, to provide company metrics data. It has made several significant hires in recent months, including from Bridgewater Associates, Surveyor Capital and Point72.
