Mobile data app provider App Annie has rebranded, changing its name to data.ai as it positions itself as a single centralised source of app analytics across a publisher’s entire tech stack.

In an announcement email, the company noted that all of its existing app analytics products will continue to operate as usual with the same account details.

The firm also announced a reseller agreement with Similarweb that provides a new unified mobile and web market dataset.

In September, the US Securities and Exchange Commission agreed to settle securities fraud charges with App Annie for engaging in “deceptive practices and making material misrepresentations” about how its alternative data was derived between 2014 and 2018. The case was the US regulator’s first enforcement action against an alternative data vendor and sent shockwaves through the industry, as data users and sellers tried to understand how the decision would impact them.
